Thanks for that great list of museum apps. My personal favorite is the Scapes app, which is, however, more a work of art than a tool for visitor information.

Thanks Michael! Did you get to go on-site with Scapes? I had hoped to make it but did not. Still, I’m looking forward to hearing more about it from Halsey Burgund, the artist, at Museums and the Web 2011 Conference. As Nancy Proctor noted in her review of Scapes (http://wiki.museummobile.info/archives/16082) it will be artist who lead the way in showing the fullest possibilities of mobile apps. As such I certainly want to be sure to include apps by artist in this list. I’ll be updating this list daily as new apps are announced or as I discover ones I’ve missed. Please be sure to contact me with any which you think should be added here. Thank you!
The museums app is already a subject for study, see more http://www.museums-app.de for a list of apps connected to museums.
At my museum the Danish Museum of Science and Technology we have just released an app about the energy crises (Energikrisen). Available now on App Store and later this spring on Androidmarked.
Michael-
Thank you for the link. I was aware of this site but had not checked back lately and so I appreciate seeing the recent list of museum apps in German. As a starting point I’ve began the current list here on Museums2Go based upon apps in English and available on the US App Store. However, I have been tossing around how best to include museum apps available in other languages and international versions of the App Store. Do you think including these apps within this same list but noting for example that the app is only available in German would be the best way to include these? Or should I create a separate “International Apps” tab? I’m leaning towards the former but would appreciate your feedback.
Thank you for the heads up on the Danish Museum of Science and Technology’s new app. I didn’t locate this on the US App Store. Is it/will it be available on the US App Store?
It is of course hard to decide were to place inferior languages like Danish.
But what I find amazing is the exploding numbers of apps concerning museums. Our app is the first museum app in Denmark, but already now I am aware of a lot of Danish museums considering an app. So in the future I will hard to keep track of the international numbers of museums app.
I was not aware of the availability of apps, US versus Europe, so I have to ask the company producing the apps how to go worldwide.
